There’s no entrance fee to stroll through the château gardens, including the formal Grand Parterre of hedges and fountains designed by Le Nôtre, the tiny Jardin de Diane courtyard garden, and the informal Jardin Anglais with its romantic carp pond. To the east are the vast lawns and Grand Canal of the Parc du Château, where locals picnic and walk their dogs in almost complete solitude from the outside world. The park and gardens are open daily from May to September, 9am to 7pm (until 5pm in winter). See the Adventures section for information on carriage rides in the park, boat rentals on the lake, and fishing in the canal.
